A mysterious X-shaped pattern of space debris seen by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope was probably two asteroids that collided, scientists said Tuesday.

The object, called P/2010 A2, was discovered in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research sky survey, or LINEAR, on January 6, NASA said.

The shape, and the streamers of dust shooting off of it, were photographed by Hubble on January 25 and 29, according to NASA.

Astronomers have long thought the asteroid belt is being ground down because of collisions, but such a head-on crash had never been seen before.

“If this interpretation is correct, two small and previously unknown asteroids recently collided, creating a shower of debris that is being swept back into a tail from the collision site by the pressure of sunlight,” said principal investigator David Jewitt, from the University of California at Los Angeles.

An unexpected meteor cut through Israel’s skyline from east to west Tuesday evening and disappeared shortly after, causing panic throughout central Israel and bafflement among astronomers who failed to predict it.

The meteor was seen by residents in the Tel Aviv area at around 8:00 P.M., leading to alarmed phone calls to the police. “Several calls were registered in which callers described having seen a shiny trail in the Sharon district,” an Israel Police spokesman said. “We crosschecked with the Israel Defense Forces and its ground units, and came up with no explanation,” he added.

Ram Rafaeli, A resident from Kfar Yedidya described is meteor sighting to Haaretz. “I went on the roof of the house with my sons and we began painting it. My eldest son turned my attention to a bright object that left a long trail, crossing the sky from east to west. It was white and radiant, and it shed a bright, strong and shiny light,” he said.

Rafaeli explained that at one point he could no longer see the light that divided the skies. “As I am a man of exact sciences in my professional life, I don?t believe in aliens. It is possible that it was a case of a meteor that entered the atmosphere, but it does not appear that way. In any case, it was a beautiful site.”

AnakimThe Anakim (literally, long-necked) are first mentioned as such in Deuteronomy 1:28. They were a race of giants (2:10, 11 R.V.), Rephaim, a word used to describe the early giant peoples of Palestine. In Numbers 13:33 R.V. they are spoken of as the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, which come of the Nephilim. Anak is thus regarded as the ancestor. The word Anak, however, may be the name of the race rather than of an individual. This is indicated by the use of the article with the words (the Anak) in the original in Numbers 13:22, 28; Joshua 15:13, 14; 21:11; Judges 1:20. The greatest man among them was Arba, who gave his name to the city Kiriath-arba, Joshua 14:15, called Hebron, Genesis 23:2; 35:27. Arba seems to have been the progenitor of the race; presumably he founded the city seven years before the Egyptian Zoan (Numbers 13:22).

The Anakim were a terror to the spies (Numbers 13:28), but were chiefly destroyed by Joshua, except a remnant who escaped to Philistine cities (Joshua 11:21, 22). Caleb ultimately destroyed them (15:14).

The Nephilim mentioned above are found in two passages, in Genesis 6:4 R.V. which indicates the existence of giants born in a manner contrary to nature (the word may be derived from the Hebrew verb nphal, to fall). These perished in the Flood with the rest of the race (except for Noahs family), Genesis 7:21-23. The other passage, Numbers 13:33 R.V., indicates a similar kind of being identical with the Anakim. These are to be distinguished from those before the Flood. The records of the Canaanite nations suggest, however, that the existence of these beings indicates similar conditions contrary to nature, and not merely a race of formidable persons of gigantic stature.

To find out who the Fallen Angels are that defiled the daughters of man and themselves, what they taught humankind and what their punishment is, we have to turn to the first book of Enoch.

The bible sometimes calls the Sons of God “Watchers”. There are good Watchers in the bible, holy ones that are loyal to God, as we see in the book of Daniel (Dan 3:13 and Dan 3:32). In the first book of Enoch, also called “The Book of the Watchers”, we find the evil Watchers, those that fell away from God by trespassing the boundaries of heaven and earth.

1 Enoch 1:4: “And everyone shall be afraid, and the Watchers will quiver” (footnote on “Watchers”: lit. “diligent guards” [Watchers are fallen angels], quoted here and in the following from James H. Charlesworth (ed.): The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha.

According to 1 Enoch 6-8, those Watchers, 200 by number, plot together to choose wives from among the fair daughters of man, and to have children with them. The Watchers bind each other to this sin by a curse. They are completely aware of the fact that this is a great sin from the very beginning (1 Enoch 6:3), and Semyaz, their leader, doesn’t want to be responsible for it all alone. And so after binding each other to the evil deed by a curse, they go down to earth, take wives, lie with them, and teach them all kinds of things that mankind is not supposed to be taught – they teach magical medicine, incantations, the cutting of roots and about plants, astrology and the knowledge of the signs, seeing the stars and the course of the moon, and the deception of man.

But the worst thing taught is what Azazel has to teach: His teaching revolves around the art of making swords and knives, shields and breastplates, plus, interestingly enough, everything about outward adornment and cosmetics: bracelets and decoration, beautifying and shadowing of the eyelids, precious stones, all coloring tinctures, and alchemy, and these are classified as “all forms of oppression” (1 Enoch 9:6). The art of war and the art of seduction by outward adornment are lumped together here as forms of oppression… and then we wonder why in the New Testament, costly array is connected to whoredom while godly women are warned explicitly not to adorn themselves outwardly (1 Pe 3:3-4), to name just one example ?

So all these skills, arts and crafts, even if called “eternal secrets” (1 Enoch 9:6), are corrupted, they are called “every kind of sin” (1 Enoch 9:9) and “rejected mysteries” (1 Enoch 16:3), since those were the only mysteries the fallen angels were privy to according to 1 Enoch 16:3. Mind you, it doesn’t say that this knowledge, in parts magical, is just a fraud. The Watchers teach mankind these things which are as real as any other knowledge, but this knowledge is not meant for mankind. Mankind is susceptible to wanting to be like God. Therefore, divine knowledge corrupts the human heart, just like in the garden of Eden when Eve was tempted and gave in to the promise of the Nachash to become like God, and know good from evil (Gen 3). In 1 Enoch 16:3, it states plainly what this kind of knowledge breeds:

“Those ones (the rejected mysteries) you have broadcast to the women in the hardness of your hearts and by those mysteries the women and men multiply evil deeds upon the earth.” (In 1 Enoch 16:3)

In the meantime, the women who married those fallen angels have given birth to giants who are oppressing the people and the land, eating all their produce and when the people don’t want to feed them anymore, they eat the people and drink blood and turn against each other, too.

For all these things that the Watchers brought upon the earth, teachings and evil offspring alike, they are punished: They will never have peace (1 Enoch 16:3), and will be killed on Judgment Day, since their transgression cost them their immortality, basically (1 Enoch 10). Their offspring will roam the earth as evil spirits on the earth (1 Enoch 15:9), they will cause great sorrow and fight against the people (1 Enoch 15:11-12). How this all is linked to the curse against the Nachash in Gen 3, we will explain in a different post. For the moment, just keep in mind that there is and has always been war between the Fallen Sons of God and their seed, and the woman and her seed, the godly people, and the great and final battle that will settle all accounts will be fought in the end times according to biblical prophesy.

Among all those Watchers that are punished, Azazel is the one that is counted most guilty, in fact, it says that all the guilt should be on his head (1 Enoch 10:8). This explains why the Hebrew word for “scapegoat” as used in the respective verses in Leviticus 16 is “Azazel” (Lev 16:8,10 and 26). A scapegoat, in short, is sent into the desert, bearing all the sins of the Israelites. According to Enoch, Azazel is bound hand and foot and thrown into a hole into the desert, covered with rocks and stones, and will be released only at Armageddon, to meet his final fate (1 Enoch 10:4-5).

As for the people that have been defiled and corrupted by the Watchers and their knowledge, God sends the great deluge to destroy them all except Noah and his family (1 Enoch 10:1-3). But since the spirits of the nephilim are not killed by the flood, they breed again afterwards, and will continue to do so, roam the earth and defile and corrupt those that are not among the elect until the final battle, where the loyal Sons of God and the Fallen Sons of God, and with them the elect and the sinners, will fight it out. The outcome of the battle is known already though, to the Antichrist as well as to all of us, by God’s word, and when all accounts are settled, Christ will reign for a thousand years of peace.

“And the earth will be cleansed from all pollution and from all sin and from all plague, and from all suffering; and it shall not happen again that I shall send these upon the earth from generation to generation and forever. And in those days I shall open the storerooms of blessing which are in the heavens, so that I shall send them down upon the earth, over the work and the toil of the children of man. And peace and truth shall become partners together in all the days of the world, and in all the generations of the world.” (1 Enoch 10:22-11:2)

For all those who are interested in Fallen Angels and such, and have missed the obviously rather un-Christian ABC mini series that was broadcast over the weekend, you might be interested in reading a summary and commentary someone else posted on his blog:

http://rapturealert.blogspot.com/2007/08/fallen.html

While I cannot say anything about that mini series itself for I missed it too, not having watched television in years, I do have a few comments to make about the biblical background the author sums up – mainly because most of what he says seems to come from extra biblical sources, at best, or thin air, at worst.

The author gives background information on what a Nephilim is, since the main character of that series is identified as one.
Besides the fact that the author himself doesn’t seem to believe that Nephilim are giants – he says that many believe Goliath was a Nephilim, but he puts the word “giant” in parenthesis -, he presents a rather interesting version of how these Nephilim came into the world. He says that, when God threw Lucifer and those that followed him from heaven, some of those fallen angels didn’t go to hell with Lucifer, but chose to go to earth instead and have children with human women, those children being the Nephilim.

While it is certainly biblical that some of the Sons of God decided to go down to earth, marry daughters of man and produce offspring that we have come to know as the Nephilim, giants, men of renown, and while it is certainly true that those Sons of God as well as humankind did not go unpunished for this great trespass (see our biblical background post for a closer description of all this), the scenario described by the author of the mentioned article is conspicuously absent. If we want to consider the book of Enoch and follow some people in their assumption that Azazel was actually Lucifer, then we find that he was among those that defiled themselves and the women, and that he was the one who took most of the blame. But we do not really need to rely on assumptions or even hermeneutic gymnastics to find biblical proof for Lucifer being cast from heaven all on his own, and quite aside from the incident that created the Nephilim.

Let me quote three passages from the bible that all refer to an enemy of God being cast from heaven, condemned to be as lowly as one can get, to give you a more biblical idea of Lucifer’s Fall, quite aside from the whole incident in Genesis 6:

“The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” “(Gen 3:14-15)

As a side note: Gen 3 and Gen 6 indeed have something to do with each other when it comes to explaining who the “seed of the Nachash” actually is, this “brute of vipers” that we still encounter in the NT, and who the “seed of the woman” is, and why the whole bible can be viewed as a divine turf war, to put it a little flippantly, but that does not justify an idea like the one summed up above. We will explain this whole scenario in a different post.

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.” (Isa 14:12-15)

“And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” ” (Luk 10:18-20)

If you look at these three passages, the similar feature in them is God’s enemy being cast down, onto the ground, into Sheol, from heaven. This is about as close as we can get to knowing what happened when Lucifer fell, and there is no indication that he took a flock of followers with him just then. Isaiah tells us that Lucifer wanted to be like God, in Gen 3 we see that the Nachash enticed the woman to eat of the forbidden fruit so that she would be like God, and Jesus points out that He, God incarnate, has given his followers the power to tread on serpents, after watching Lucifer falling. While there is no question that there are Fallen Sons of God who defile and lead astray those peoples that God gave up to them, there is little indication that this has a direct connection to Lucifer’s fall.

So this is our conclusion:
The bible does not support the view that Lucifer was cast out together with some followers who basically produced the Nephilim while taking a detour to earth on their way to hell, so to speak. Besides, it is also quite difficult to ignore the existence of giants in the bible, quite aside from Goliath, as we mentioned elsewhere. If you want to point at people presenting unbiblical views, and be consistent and believable in your criticism, it might be a good idea to get the biblical facts straight first, so as to not run the risk of becoming a false teacher.

“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” (Luk 6:31)

The first rebellion that we find in the bible, if we go by how bibles are laid out nowadays usually, is the rebellion of the “snake” in Genesis 3. The “snake” deceives Eve, according to her own words, meaning that it tells her to rebel against God’s word and that instead of being harmful to her, it would make her benefit greatly, since she would be like God if she ate from the tree that gave her the knowledge of good and evil. If you know what is good and what is evil, that is, if it is up for you to decide what is good and what is evil, then you are a god, a law giver, someone who sets the rules instead of obeying them.Who is this snake that tells Eve all this, and what are the consequences of this little episode in Genesis 3 ?

In Hebrew, the being that deceives Eve is called “nachash”, commonly translated as “snake”. Since the bible doesn’t indicate that in the garden of Eden, animals had the gift of speech, and since Eve did not seem astonished to be addressed by the Nachash, another possible translation for the word nachash, “Shining One”, seems a lot more logical to us – see Michael S. Heiser’s work on the subject if you are interested in this matter, since much of what is presented in this blog, both about the nachash and about Fallen Sons of God, is based on his work (http://www.michaelsheiser.com).

So the one that talks to Eve in Eden is not an animal, but a shining being, and it’s purpose is to bring disaster on newly created mankind, for it tries to bring God’s anger down on Adam and Eve. God said Adam and Eve would die if they ate from the said tree, and so this seems to be the goal of the Nachash.

This shining being is cursed at the end of the chapter, of course, and what does this curse include?

“The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.” (Gen 3:14)

Hmmm – what does this remind us of ?

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn!” (Isa 14:12)

And also…

“And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven”.” (Luk 10:18)

The Nachash is the same deceiver that we meet throughout the bible, the first one to promise knowledge to mankind that is not for mankind to have, exactly the type of knowledge that threatens the world in the video game “Adam Syndrome”…
Stay tuned for more, as we are about to explain tomorrow how all this will help us understand the nature of Fallen Angels, Nephilim, and Fallen Sons of God.

Yesterday we looked at Genesis 3 and the Nachash deceiving Eve, and found that this “serpent” or “snake” is indeed not an animal, but a very specific shining being – Lucifer. Now how does that help us understand the nature of Fallen Angels, Nephilim, and Fallen Sons of God?

The curse uttered against the Nachash has two parts – the first one, that he shall crawl on his belly and eat dust all the days of his life, hints at Lucifer being cast from Heaven, and into the far end of the pit finally. It describes his final destiny – the devil is already defeated.

The second part of the curse, however, describes what will happen between his fall and Lucifer meeting said final destiny:

“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” ” (Gen 3:15)

There is enmity, an adversary relationship, between the woman’s seed, that is, mankind or Christ, both can be argued for, and the seed of the Nachash, the “brood of vipers” that we find mentioned in the New Testament (Mat 3:7, 12:34, 23:33 and Luk 3:7), those that rebel against God and fight against His people, openly or subtly.

If you look now at what Azazel and his companions did in Genesis 6, you see how the brood of vipers grew and multiplied after Eve’s deception, and if you look further at the tower of Babel story in Genesis 11:1-9, there the rebellion continues, and the general topic is the same: Mankind wants to be like God, and the Watchers, just like the Nachash, promise that to mankind, so that the people follow other, lesser gods. Therefore, God gave most all of mankind up to those lesser gods when He divided up the nations after the tower of Babel incident, and chose for himself only Israel, His chosen people:

“When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. But the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.” (Deu 32:8-9)

But even His chosen people fall away from Him time and time again, to commit idolatry and serve other gods…

So what the bible really seems to be all about is a gigantic divine turf war, with the showdown being set at Armageddon, and the outcome of the great battle between God and His loyal Sons, angels and His elect among the people on the one side, and Lucifer and the Fallen Sons of God, Fallen Angels, the Nephilim and those people that follow the devil on the other side, already decided – we know who the winner will be ! But in the meantime, the “bad guys” have time to lead as many people astray as they can, with the knowledge, that is, skills, crafts and technology they offer to mankind.

How dangerous knowledge can be is rather obvious. The scientific research that led to the construction of the atomic bomb may serve as just one small example to illustrate this fact. And this danger that is hidden in knowledge, in “Watcher Technology”, is precisely what the video game “Adam Syndrome” plays upon…

So the Fallen Sons of God, together with their followers – Fallen Angels, Nephilim, demons – are rulers over all the peoples that are not God’s chosen people, over those peoples given up by God to be ruled by beings less powerful than He is, created beings, lesser gods… Think about it ! Whom do you serve ?

“When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.” (Gen 6:1-8)

Someone blogged about this passage because it confused him or her to read about Sons of God and daughters of men having children with each other. Who are those Sons of God, and who, consequently, are the Nephilim ? Are those Sons of God Fallen Angels ? Demons ? From the line of Cain ? The author of the blog rightly dismisses the possibility that they were angels, since there is no biblical support that angels would or could produce offspring with human beings. The same skepticism is brought towards the assumption that they could be of Cain’s line, for how could Cain produce sons of God. And who are the Nephilim ? Another source is quoted that classifies them as “a class or type of human being who could emerge again any time after the Flood” (”Handbook for Spiritual Warfare”). Good thinking. But by far not far enough.

The first difficulty this author obviously has is accepting the bible for what it says: Sons of God took wives from the daughters of man. Sons of God. Why could they not be simply sons of God, fallen sons, that’s for sure, but still sons of God ? This is not the only reference to God’s sons, lesser gods, created beings that belong to God’s family:

“When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.” (Deu 32:8)

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements–surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (Job 38:4-7)

“I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” “(Psa 82:6-7)

So why speculate who they are if the bible tells you plainly that they are sons of God ? And quite obviously, they are not loyal sons of God, but rebellious ones that violate the borders between heaven and earth and mix with mankind to defile mankind so that God might destroy it.

And who then are the Nephilim ? They are hybrids, half man, half god, and their corrupted, yet divine nature obviously didn’t die in the flood, but survived and was able to produce offspring again after the flood. It says right there in Gen 6:4: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward”, and the Nephilim, giants, enemies of God that belong to the brood of vipers we mentioned yesterday, are also what we have to expect before Christ comes back, for it will be just like in the days of Noah (Mat 24:37, Luk 17:26). Most probably, the classification as “demons” comes closest to what the Nephilim actually are, especially if you take into consideration what Enoch has to say about watchers ad demons.

One last thing:
The author thinks this passage could very well provide “more insight into God at the time just prior to the flood”. It is certainly a passage that challenges most Christian denominations’ doctrine since they do not wish to accept that there are lesser gods that God created as a part of His family, sons that are not The Son. The Son, Jesus Christ, is God in essence, part of the triune, uncreated God, and quite distinct from the created sons of God mentioned in the above example passages including Gen 6. But it is a rather interesting attitude to look for insight into God at any specific time, as if God would change somewhere along the line. He doesn’t.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13:8)

“As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” ” (Mat 24:3)

To answer this question, Jesus launches into His longest sermon, recorded in Matthew 24 and 25. Many of the things He mentions people are rather familiar with, such as wars, famines, earthquakes and pestilences in many places. Those are but the beginning though. Next follow the tribulations that many people would like to escape from all too eagerly, but there will be no pre-trib rapture. Instead, the love of many will grow cold… maybe the love of all those who are disappointed that they aren’t whisked away ? With the tribulations come false prophets and lawlessness, hatred and betrayal, and then the end will come. As soon as we see the abomination that makes desolate standing in the holy place, we are to flee, to the mountains, without delay, but even so, were the times of tribulation not shortened for the elects’ sake, nobody would survive. We are promised, however, that those that stand fast until the end will be saved.

Anyway, what is of special interest to us at the moment are these verses, quoted on this blog before, no doubt:

“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” (Mat 24:37-42)

Noah and his family were the only ones left, all the others were taken, and with them the Nephilim that dwelt on the earth in those days, the so-called “men of renown”, the giants that were produced as a hybrid breed, half god, half human.

Two things are of interest here for us:

1. Despite all the warning signs, most people will be completely unaware of what is going on, they will be unable to see their own transgressions, they will follow false prophets, and even though they claim that the “the world is going to hell in a hand basket”, they will not know that Christ is returning until they see His sign in the sky, until it is too late to repent.

2. If it will be like in the days of Noah, then we should expect giants again to walk the earth. Before the days of Noah, marriage is mentioned nowhere in the bible, so we can safely assume that Jesus, when He talks about marriage in Matthew 24, refers to the same kind of marriage that went on in Noah’s times. Therefore, we should expect fallen sons of God to come down again to defile mankind and lead astray whoever they can with their fancy technology and secret knowledge, and produce offspring again with human women.

So really, the “Adam Syndrome”, the new video game Dark Motif prepares to launch in 2008, might be dealing with something people should take much more seriously than they probably will. Not that you will need to play the video game in order to prepare for the end times, but the fact that yet again, there will be knowledge disclosed that is not meant for mankind, is indeed more than just a game.

Are you shaking in your shoes already, thinking the end times are near because you recently heard about earthquakes, and even giants, on the news? Are you afraid of the Nephilim, the Watchers, the new knowledge they bring ? Well, if that is what you think, you should rejoice instead of being afraid, for the blessed hope, Christ’s return, is near. “Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” (Mat 24:42), keep yourself separate from all the worldy evil, and “See that no one leads you astray.” (Mat 24:4)

Eph 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Angels, fallen or loyal, lesser elohim, demons, spiritual forces, authorities and rulers… Besides the triune God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, there are a lot of other entities that inhabit the spiritual realm, those that are loyal to God and His helpers, and those that support Lucifer and the seed of the Nachash in their endeavor to lead as many people astray as possible.

When we look at Paul’s warning in Ephesians 6, we see the same references to heavenly rulers other than God that we also find in many other places in the bible, among them Deu 32:8, which tells us that God divided up the earth among the sons of God. This happened after the tower of Babel incident described in Gen 11:1-9, and is a punishment for the nations, for after being dispersed they are no longer ruled by the all powerful God of Israel, but by less powerful gods that lead them in all kinds of directions, but not exactly towards salvation. Thus God punishes mankind for its sin of disobedience in Babel, and then starts His godly family on earth over by choosing Abraham to be the father of God’s people, the nation of Israel, God’s own allotment.

So here we have rulers over the nations of the earth that are not God, but other entities that might or might not be loyal to God. In Daniel, we see one of God’s loyal angels being delayed by fighting against one of these spiritual rulers, the “Prince of Persia”, whom he could only leave after Michael, labeled “one of the chief princes”, came to his help. No, this prince of Persia is not a prince of flesh and blood, any more than Michael or the angel Daniel encounters are of flesh and blood. This prince of Persia is one of those “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” Paul mentions.

Having accepted this, one can also understand better why “rebellion is like the sin of divination (witchcraft)” according to 1Sa 15:23, since calling on the spirits around us that are undoubtedly there and asking them for advice or knowledge or guidance means to turn away from the one and only true God. It is neither allowed nor beneficial for God’s people to meddle with spirits, watchers, cosmic powers.

So when the “Adam Syndrome” comes up with this theme of dangerous and hitherto hidden knowledge that needs to remain hidden, don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s all just fiction. Note that the bible does by no means deny the presence or (limited) power of those spiritual beings, on the contrary. These spiritual forces are just as real as the tree in your back yard, and just like said tree, they are part of the created universe. Only God, His Only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit are the uncreated Trinity since they are one in essence. All other beings, spiritual or physical, human or divine, are created and thus part of creation.

So think twice before you meddle with the occult. Think twice, because in doing so, you are bowing to worship a lesser god.

Rulers of the Earth is a moving personal attempt to clarify ancient biblical references to the “sons of God”, and relating these to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Dr Joe Lewels reveals his own personal odyssey from successful businessman and academic who once headed the Department of Journalism at the University of Texas at El Paso, to a researcher of the UFO abduction phenomenon. After discovering that “hypnosis was absolutely necessary” for recovering the suppressed memories of those experiencing the abduction phenomenon, Lewels discovered that past life information could also be regained detailing historical events (p. 19). A number of synchronistic events lead to him discovering that he and others involved in abduction research, have deeply personal connections to the biblical events surrounding the life and crucifixion of Jesus. More significant for Lewels, is his own personal association with a mysterious Jewish sect called the Essenes who have much information about the “sons of God”.
